The Burglar – Thomas Perry

The story revolves around Elle, a twenty-something-year-old woman. Elle is a professional burglar. She breaks into rich people’s homes in Los Angeles when they are away and steals their valuables which she sells for cash.

One night she sneaks into a home, presuming that the owner was away. She walks into the master bedroom and stumbles on a murder scene where three people are shot dead in bed. She then notices a video camera in the corner of the room that’s recording. She realizes she may have inadvertently walked right into a murder scene and decides to get rid of any evidence that may incriminate her. But someone saw her leave the building with the camera.

Now she’s running for her life because the killers behind the murder are after her. Things take a different turn when a close friend of hers is murdered. As the body count rises, Elle finds herself in a race against time to find out who committed the murders before she becomes the next victim.

The Burglar is a fast-paced and action-packed book. I enjoyed the plot, the atmosphere and I loved how the mystery was well crafted throughout the story. I highly recommend this book to thriller and crime novel fans.
